Susman Bay House

Overlooking West Galveston Bay, this weekend house serves as a retreat for a Houston couple, their family, friends and clients. Public space was conceived as a great covered porch which affords views across the bay. This double-height space is framed by a segmented bar building of private rooms and functional elements. Materials and massing are derived from Gulf Coast cottages, but deviations from the vernacular occur in scale and arrangement of parts to whole.
